About Us
Canvey Island Elim Pentecostal Church is part of a growing Movement of more than 600 Christian congregations in the UK and Ireland.
Elim was founded in 1915 by George Jeffreys, a young Christian from South Wales. Jeffreys and a group of friends, known as the Elim Evangelistic Band, preached, started churches and witnessed a move of God that was characterised by miraculous healings and an explosion in the number of people becoming Christians.
The Canvey Church has been started with the help of Pastors Derrick & Ann Wilks and Evangelistic Team from Leigh-on-sea Elim Pentecostal Church based in Glendale Gardens. The Leigh-on-sea Church was the first Elim Church in England, started in 1921, it, along with the Kingston family were responsible for many Elim Churches starting in the local area, Including one on Canvey, this unfortunately closed around 20 years ago.
